WHAT'S HAPPENING IN REACH & RISE®? |
In 2023, Reach & Rise® accomplished some VERY EXCITING THINGS!
| - The total amount of time mentors volunteered was 430 hours!
- 41 youth were served in group mentoring!
-
Mentors provided support to youth by listening non-judgmentally as well as providing encouragement and advice.
- The top goals youth achieved were improved social skills, participation in positive recreational activities and improved self-esteem.
This Spring, we have four Reach & Rise® groups located at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA, Butler YMCA, Karns City High School and Broad Street Elementary School. These groups are learning how to manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, and work together as a team. |
WE ARE ACCEPTING MENTEE REFERRALS FOR SUMMER GROUPS! |
Do you know a kid who can benefit from Reach & Rise®? Check out our website below for an application. Summer groups begin in June and applications are being accepted now. |
| |
It has been almost a year since Reach & Rise® began offering 1:1 mentoring! Since then, we have matched eight youth with mentors. Youth have been working with their mentors on improving family relationships and understanding their emotions. Mentors and mentees have engaged in activities such as swimming, exercising, reading, crafting, talking, playing games and journaling.
We have youth who are still looking for mentors to connect with. Our 1:1 mentors meet with their mentees once a week for 1-2 hours at either the Butler YMCA or the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA. The commitment is for one year and mentors are provided with a comprehensive 15-hour training that prepares them to support their mentees. |
Are you interested in making a difference in a child’s life? Apply to be a mentor online by clicking the button or contacting Reach & Rise® Administrative Assistant, Jerry Johnston at jjohnston@bcfymca.org or 724-287-4733 x147 for more information.
